By using these specification guides you’ll be able to specify fireblocking materials made by Tenmat, Inc with ease.

Our range of fireblocking materials are applicable in ventilated rainscreen assemblies, unprotected ceiling openings, or through-penetration applications.

In the 2015 update, Section 718.2.6 of the International Building Code (or IBC) requires Fireblocking to be installed within concealed spaces of combustible exterior wall coverings and architectural elements at maximum 20-foot intervals, limiting concealed spaces to 100 square feet.  In certain cases, including single-family dwelling cornices, noncombustible framing with specified protective materials, and exterior wall coverings tested per NFPA 285.

Section 714.4.2 of the 2015 IBC addresses the issue of fire-resistant materials in multi-story residential buildings. It requires that municipalities across the United States install fire-resistant products into fire-resistance assemblies. These assemblies include ceilings, floors and walls.

These requirements are relevant for the following applications – schools, hospitals, hotels, student housing, and apartment buildings.
